As Shawnee described it, this week was all about “Altered States”. Altered states are conditions significantly different from a normal state. Personally, I’d like to call this the episode of demons, vampires, and drama (oh, my!). The remaining five women were told to conjure a demon in their session or challenge with Shawnee. The emphasis was mostly to be on the moment of possession.
As always (and I do stress always) Tanedra rocked. She is the top contender so far. Michelle used leftover voice talents from the reform school zombie squad character that she was given for James’ made up B movie. Jessica only performs one way: way the hell over-the-top. She reminded me strongly of a B movie monster, complete with over dramatics. Lindsay looked and sounded like she was in the middle of some horrible epileptic seizure. There is one funny thing to note: her boobs almost popped out! Angela showed real improvement. She was able to let go of the past crap that was holding her back before. I have to vehemently disagree with Michelle taking the honor for her performance over all the other girls. (Specifically Tanedra)
Jon’s focus this week was on a type of therapy session. He asked the girls to put themselves in their partners’ shoes, to act out the best and worst qualities of that person. Angela and Lindsay were paired. Michelle and Tanedra were paired. And poor Jessica had to pair with Jon. Lindsay and Angela absolutely nailed it. They were both able to talk about and act out the worst in their partner, without hurting feelings or throwing verbal jabs. Jessica did not get the whole point of the exercise. She merely “acted” like she was Jon. She didn’t put herself in his shoes. She didn’t even try. It was dually sad and funny. Now we get to Michelle and Tanedra. Michelle does not understand one thing about her partner. That was obvious. Ultimately, she ended up typecasting poor Tanedra. And because Michelle, in essence, tore her a new one, Tanedra snapped and lashed out some. The whole point of Jon’s exercise was for the women to learn more about their weaknesses and possibly how to fix them and overcome those things holding them back. Michelle offered a weak apology and Tanedra vowed to allow those misconceptions to fuel her and give her the energy she needed to outshine the other competitors.

Scream Queens VH1
You’ve got to love a director who has interest in vampires. That is exactly what James wanted to work with this week. He challenged the girls to become vampires (with nice fake fangs) and act out a scene with one of his friends Michael Rooker. I best remember him as the cop villain in Bone Collector. You may know him from other movies. What’s important is that these vampires were desperately seeking blood, on the verge of feeding. They had to show sensuality, lust, and darkness we hadn’t seen yet. When Angela vamped out, she stole the show…mostly. She used the Transylvanian accent and it worked well for her. Even her moves were seductive. Jessica just couldn’t get used to the fangs. The only things you heard from James were advice, advice, and even more advice. Lindsay was awkward and you could tell how self-conscious she was. Her nerves did get the better of her. Michelle did what could only be best described as worthy of porn. She slithered and rubbed, and did all but give the guy a lap dance. Our girl Tanedra got it perfect…in one take! She put a lot of energy into her scene, and owned that challenge!
Elimination time came. Advice was given. They praised Angels for her continued improvement. Even her use of the old Romanian accent was given kudos. Sometimes it’s the small, personal things that really add to a performance. Her strategy this week worked for her. Jessica’s acting has flat-lined, according to Jon. She plays the same crazy character, no matter what she has been asked to act out. Lindsay had to endure advice about self esteem. The key was to act professionally despite feelings and emotions. When the 3 judges had to decide who would be leaving the competion, they were faced with this question: who has the most potential for change over the next 2 weeks. When they had that question answered, they also had the girl who would not meet that standard. Yes, they picked Jessica. Jessica, who, from the very beginning, only showed her ability to act crazy and mental. In every challenge from James, she never changed. In Jon’s challenges, she only frustrated him and never bothered to heed his coaching, his advice to her. Everyone was ready for her to leave, and I have been waiting since week 2 for them to tell her to hit the road! She was great entertainment, don’t get me wrong. But she was never worthy to even be considered 2nd runner-up for this serious competition.
In two weeks, we will know who our winner is. We will know who will have the break-out role in the upcoming Saw VI movie. And we will see if the judges were right in whom they pick. I have said since day one, that Tanedra was the girl to beat. I still firmly believe that she can and will take the prize. She had competition but they have not pushed themselves or applied themselves the way that she has. She has the skills. We just have to wait and see if she keeps strong to the end. Here’s hoping! *fingers crossed*
