Zombieland is so Dead

Zombieland is so Dead

I had the treat (finally) of getting to see the one movie I’ve been drooling over for about a month now! I saw Zombieland with my hubs this past Friday night. (part one of a three part moviegoing extravaganza) I am happy to say that I absolutely loved Zombieland! I even enjoyed Amber Heard’s bit part as Eisenberg’s hot roommate. The thing that really dug its heels (or claws) into me was the first five minutes. That’s right. I’m referring to their use of my favoritest band ever Metallica’s For Whom The Bell Tolls!!! It was at that moment when I realized what song was playing, three seconds in really, and that was it. I knew I would either like this movie or love it. Jesse Eisenberg, Columbus, was great. I loved his geekiness, his cautiousness. He was somebody we could all relate to, especially when he talked about World of Warcraft. Although, I personally love Code Blue. Yep, I’m an Alliance kind of girl! I have nothing against the Horde though. My Blood Elf hunter is one of my funnest characters! (Off the subject much? Hmm…Rerouting…) His mannerisms were great and they kinda reminded me of Michael Cera’s (June, Year One, Superbad…) in a way.

Woody Harrelson was great as Tallahassee and no one else could have done that role justice. He was serious, he was hilarious, it all worked for him. I liked Bill Murray’s small part in the movie, as himself. He’s a very funny man and the fact that he was in Zombieland only added to it for me! Now, I want to talk about Emma Stone. She is mostly known for her roles in funny movies like The Rocker, The House Bunny, and Superbad, she was pretty good in Zombieland. It never hurts that she was tall and brunette, with bangs even! It was a good look for her and I enjoyed her performance. She was smart, funny, sarcastic, mean when she needed to be, and yes…hot.

I would recommend Zombieland for anybody who loves zombies (duh), dark humor, and more zombies. While the backstory was serious, the rest of the movie did not get weighed down by it. Tallahassee had his moments and even when it looked dismal for Wichita and Little Rock, there was still humor to be found. I also have to mention the soundtrack…I’m buying it as soon as I can! I was subjected to songs I hadn’t heard for a while and found that they only lended to the awesomeness of the movie! When Everybody Wants Some and Don’t Fear the Reaper kicked in, I was so hooked it wasn’t funny!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to satisfy my craving for those golden yellow sponges of goodness :)
