I don’t know about you… But I have this long tradition of renting and watching as many horror movies as I can right before and on Halloween. I make sure the entire anthology of Halloween movies is viewed and enjoyed. I live for Halloween, and not just the movies. So, I’m thinking of taking a chance this year and going to the local movie theatre to give The Haunting of Molly Hartley a go. It might be good. It might not. I’ll just have to wait and see what else is revealed about this film. That, and watch all the trailers that I can track down.
I do try to give every movie a chance. I don’t spitefully cut films down. I love love love horror movies and anything in the bloody, gory genre. So I do put forth a lot of effort in watching as many horror movies as I can, to expand my ever-growing library of films.
Here we are… Once again, a film company has decided to release a horror movie around Halloween. It has been a while. Let’s see..The Saw movies are always released a few days before or slightly after Halloween. Also I know that this year is no exception. Saw V is due to be released October 24th this year and I am all for it. The only problem is that I don’t know what this movie is supposed to be about.
What I gather from my sources so far is that this film’s setting is a private school. The main character is about to turn 18. Something happens to her on the eve of this very important birthday. There are some pretty unknown but getting popular people starring in THoMH. Here are just a few names for you. Chace Crawford, who plays Nate, the disenchanted brunette male heartthrob in Gossip Girl is one such person. Shannon Marie Woodward plays a part of sorts. You might remember her. She played one of the smaller female roles, but definitely still a hottie, in the sports spoof comedy The Comebacks. So here we are with a cast of cinema unknowns, directed by first time director of a movie, Mickey Liddell. If you don’t know who he is, he directed the semi short-lived series on CW…Everwood.
I’m going to challenge all of you. I’m sure some of you go to your share of haunted houses and film festivals. Maybe you even do the same as me, and stay in with your favorite horror classics and new favorites. Or you attend parties. It doesn’t matter. Celebrate Halloween the way you want. What I’m challenging you to do is break with your tradition just a little bit. Do your favorite October 31st activity and see this movie. That’s all. Spice up your 24 hours of blood, scares, and costumes.
Let me know what you decide to do. I’m sticking by my decision for now, at least. I’ll let you know how it goes!
