Much Ado About Lily Cole?

Not too much is really known about British model turned actress Lily Cole film-wise, but that is all about to change. She appeared on the movie scene just a few years ago. She starred in the bad schoolgirl comedy St. Trinian’s in 2007. She was in an episode (number 2 actually) of the New York Times online film series T Takes: Brooklyn 09 this year. She played a celebrity supermodel in Rage, along with Eddie Izzard, Judi Dench, Jude Law, and John Leguizamo. She played a part in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, along with Heath Ledger (this was his final performance), Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, Jude Law, and more. The film is said to be about a traveling theater company that delivers much more than anyone expects.

Currently, Lily is in the middle of doing Marilyn Manson’s horror movie Phantasmagoria: Visions of Lewis Carroll. And yes, before you ask, Lewis Carroll wrote Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. In Phantasmagoria she plays Alice, a girl who haunts an author, who just happens to live in a castle. Marilyn Manson will direct and produce the fantastic horror film. I personally was unsure about the movie, until I learned that Manson would be heading up the whole project! He is fascinating and scary, and I think it’s time the horror world learned just what he can do!

Now, it has been reported very recently (a day or two ago) that Lily Cole will be starring alongside Scott Speedman (Underworld 1, 2, and the Strangers) in Edward Pressman and Mary Herron’s gothic horror The Moth Diaries. Pressman and Herron haven’t worked together since American Psycho. Moth Diaries has not even started filming yet, as the main actors were just announced. Moth Diaries is based off Rachel Klein’s novel about a young girl who arrives at a New England boarding school while students are dying in questionable circumstances.

One last note on Lily Cole…She is an Ambassador for Global Angels Children’s Charity, supports the organization WaterAid, supports the Environmental Justice Foundation. She also helps when she can with Comic Relief, to raise money for charities around the world, and is an active ally for the environmental organization Western Shoshone.
