Scream Awards 2009

So this past week, Spiketv held its third annual Scream Awards. And seeing how this is a horror blog, I will let you guys know who won what, as it pertains to the great and gory world of horror! There was a large variety of people handing out awards this year. Here they are!
Jessica Alba, Johnny Depp, Quentin Tarentino, Harrison Ford, Tobey McGuire, Taylor Lautner, the mostly complete cast of BattleStar Galactica, Woody Harrelson, and more!!

Zombieland

Quentin Tarantino presented George A. Romero with the Mastermind. When he arrived on the stage, the pianist sharing the stage played the theme from “Creepshow”. It was a great moment for zombie lovers everywhere! They showed scenes from Night of the Living Dead, The Crazies, Martin, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Creepshow 2, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead…He spoke of his most recent zombie film Survival of the Dead, due out in 2010.

There were sneak peek scenes for the upcoming horror thriller Shutter Island starring Leonardo Dicaprio. The upcoming reworking of V was brought to our attention courtesy of Elizabeth Mitchell, formerly of Lost and currently Flash Forward.

I only have a few bones to pick about some of the winners for a few of Scream Awards’ categories. That will be in my next blog post. Until then, congrats to the winners! It has become painfully obvious that the world is highly obsessed with True Blood and Twilight! More on that later too!

All in all, 2009 was a great year for horror.
