I have enjoyed every Saw movie so far, in varying degrees of course. I first watched Saw I and Saw II on Valentine’s Day (it’s our ritual of sorts. holidays become days to indulge in blood, gore, and creepy goodness!) after enjoying a sumptuous Chinese food feast! I liked them then. I still enjoy them. I even remember the second I realized that my favorite romance/comedy actor Cary Elwes played the part of Doctor Lawrence Gordon! He had previously played a darker character in Kiss the Girls. (Okay, so I’m a sap for thrillers as well) The imagery was brutal and awesome. The plot twist was well-written and acted. I found myself stunned to find that the “dead” body in the middle of the room was not dead but the serial killer Jigsaw.
Now we are faced with the fact that it is four movies later, and I did not enjoy Saw V as much as I could have. We can get into that one later. (Acting was subpar but the puzzles were good. I don’t much care for Costas Mandylor’s performance. He seemed too weak to pick up the mantle.) I am looking forward to Tanedra’s performance. After that, I don’t really know who is playing what. Does it really matter? 90% of the people who find themselves trapped in a deadly puzzle are going to die anyway. So only time and actually seeing the movie will tell if this story is worth being told. Will the puzzles be even more gruesome than the ones from the other Saws? Will the actors be able to act and could we see them as being believable?
Just have to wait and see…
