Nakay’s Top 10 Supernatural/Sci-Fi Babes

Welcome Nakay to the ranks of the writers for Girls of Horror. Here is her first article ever for GoH!
10.) Zoe Washburne: Kicking off this countdown is the lovely but fierce Zoe Washburne from the TV series Firefly. She was played by Gina Torres who also was in another show, Angel from the same creator; Joss Whedon, and had a bit part on Vampire Diaries. Zoe was just a really fun awesome character. She was loyal to her captain and wasn’t afraid to pull a gun on you at a moment’s notice. Serving in the Unification War under the command of Sergeant Malcolm Reynolds, she was his second in command and she followed him even after the war. This made her the second in command upon his ship Serenity. She is calmer in dangerous situations which makes her choice in a husband quite humorous. Upon joining Mal’s crew aboard Serenity she met the pilot, Hoban Washburne. He was a funny, wise-cracking guy who played with dinosaurs and Zoe didn’t trust him. Maybe it was his mustache. Whatever the case may be they overcame their differences and got married.

09.) Sophie-Anne LeClerq: Sophie is our number nine babe, from the TV show True Blood, she’s played by the ever sexy Evan Rachel Wood. Not much about her is shown on the show other than her being the Queen of Louisiana; but, according to the books she is an 1100 year old vampire who died while still a teenager. On the show she’s only 500. She has an apparent love for things from the 1940′s and 50′s and loves to spend time playing Yahtzee with her playthings. It’s hinted that she’s more into women but does love to watch 2 or more hot men go at it. Freak huh? Well I guess you gotta be to be a vampire queen. She’s seen spending most of her time lounging by a pool inside her mansion wearing a white bathing suit and cat eye sunglasses. She seems to have a poised vibe around her but she isn’t afraid to have ‘fun’.

08.) Sookie Stackhouse: Kicking off at number eight is another hottie from True Blood. Sookie is played by the lovely Anna Paquin. Sookie is a telepathic waitress from Bon Temps, Louisiana who works at Merlotte’s Bar and Grill. Sookie can read your mind and knows every dirty secret you have floating around up there. And she looks so cute in the waitress outfit. One night while working in walks in Bill Compton; he’s the first vampire she has ever met. She’s drawn to him mostly because she can’t read his mind and that’s great for her because she has to listen to everyone else’s thoughts all day long. Sookie is very much southern and demands that you treat her like the lady that she is. She probably took that after the grandmother that raised her. Being with Bill has put her in a lot of sucky (haha, no pun intended) situations which she does pretty well to get out of. So far, she’s had a vampire explode on her, been stalked by a serial killer, was nearly killed by a demon, and is now indebted to Eric Northman, sheriff of Area 5. And with all the sex scenes in the show you get to see her tits, a lot. But I’m not complaining. There is still much to see from Sookie and the third season will be premiering this June, the 13th to be exact. I can’t wait!

07.) Dana Scully: Number seven is Dana Scully who is from the show which ruined much of my childhood and made me afraid of alien abduction… The X-Files. Played by Gillian Anderson, she is a special agent for the FBI and also has her MD. Scully was partnered up with Fox Mulder who was head of the X-Files department. She spent most of the series finding scientific reason behind every supernatural situation they came across, but she eventually came around. When the show wasn’t scaring my pants off I did enjoy the dynamic between the two leads. They just clicked and the show went on to be one of the greatest sci-fi TV shows of the generation. Gillian brought sexiness to what would have been a boring character if she had been played by anyone else. And that’s because Gillian is hot. Have you seen that photo shoot she did last year? Long red hair looks good on her.

06.) Jessica Hamby: Jessica is our sixth lady on the countdown who’s played by Deborah Ann Woll. Yup, it’s another babe from True Blood. Jess was a teenage girl from a strict religious family who had to be a good girl for far too long. Having snuck out one night Jessica was kidnapped by a group of undead who work as a law system of sorts for the vampire community. As punishment for killing a fellow vampire, Bill Compton was instructed to kill and turn Jessica into a member of the undead. She begs him to spare her life but he is unable to and turns her. When she rises from the grave as a vampire she is shocked to learn that she is now undead but it quickly wears away as she relishes in the freedom it brings her. She can now shed the innocent Christian girl persona that was forced on her and become a sexy little tramp, and is annoying as hell. As the show progresses Bill starts to think she is more trouble than she’s worth. Thankfully though she grows into her character and becomes a lot less annoying. She’s got the cutest potty mouth ever and manages to look adorable and sexy in those gothic outfits she loves to run around in.

05.) Faith Lehane: Number five here is a bad ass bitch, for real. Faith is from both Buffy the Vampire Slayer AND its spin off Angel, as well as the recently canceled Dollhouse. Eliza Dushku who is known for some pretty awesome roles landed on the show during season three. Any of you Buffy fans out there who know that there can only be one slayer (in a generation) also know that things get heated between the two. Born and raised mostly in Boston, Faith had a hard life early on due to her mother being an abusive alcoholic. Being shoved from one family member to another she never got the TLC that a young girl needs growing up. During her teens she started training as a slayer and watched as her first watcher died; she was unable to stop it from happening. The hardened slayer was then shipped off to Sunnydale where she was supposed to fight side by side with Buffy Summers. See, Faith is a bad girl and it didn’t take long for her true colors to reveal themselves. She hooked up with an evil mayor, tried to help end the world, and tried to kill Buffy AND her vampire honey Angel. Yeah, she wasn’t the nicest person you’d want to meet. Though she does go through redemption of sorts she will always be the rogue slayer with a dark past, and that’s what I find to be one of her charming qualities.

04.) Willow Rosenberg: Alyson Hannigan plays our number four babe who’s yet another Whedon character and our fourth red head on the countdown! What can I say? Redheads are HOT. Willow stars in Buffy the Vampire Slayer during the first season as the nerdy and shy computer geek. Xander Harris is her best friend and she more than welcomes Buffy to the school. She was cute as a button and could hack into basically anything on the Internet. She loved to help with demon research and even taught a computer class for awhile during her school years. She started dabbling in witchcraft and found herself to be a pretty powerful witch. After dating a werewolf, getting her heart broke, and helping save the world a few times she was ready to graduate. Heading off to the local university with her best friend she becomes more powerful with her magic and quickly figures out that she actually bats for the other team. Going from computer geek to evil witch, Willow has been on both sides of the spectrum and finally found her way back to a somewhat balanced place in life. She’s a powerful witch, loyal friend, red head, and oh did I forget to mention lesbian?

03.) River Tam: The teenage sister of a doctor and skilled assassin Summer Glau’s character River from the tv show Firefly hits number three on our list. Simon and River were the only children of a wealthy couple on a core planet. Simon graduated the top of his med school and finished his internship 4 months early but he insists that River is the smarter of the two. She is simply a child prodigy. When a new academy ran by the Alliance for ‘gifted children’ opened up her parents sent her in hopes that it would do wonders for her. The academy was just a cover for what was really going on; they were experimenting on children and teens in hopes of creating super soldiers and assassins. River managed to send a coded message to her brother that told him something wasn’t right. When he went to his parents about it they didn’t believe him. Taking matters in his own hands he set out to rescue her. When he found her he was horrified. Her brain had been cut into so much that she had slipped into insanity. She could read people’s minds and had basically no control over her emotions. It was both physical and mentally exhausting for her. Stealing her away they were on the run after that. Simon managed to get passage aboard the ship Serenity as the ship’s doctor. He finally felt as if they could get somewhere. As things unfold the crew learns of a stowaway on the ship when Malcolm Reynolds discovered a large crate on the cargo deck. Inside was a sedated and naked River. Summer Glau also played the newest Terminator Cameron on the short-lived Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

02.) Elena Gilbert: Well, we’re almost there! Number two on the list is Elena Gilbert of the Vampire Diaries series. Played by the sexy Nina Dobrev, Elena is the star of the show which is based on a book series that’s almost 20 years old. At the start of the show Elena and her younger brother are orphans living with their aunt due to their parents tragic death in a car accident a few months prior. Elena used to be really popular at school and had lots of friends and a great boyfriend. Though that all changed when she came back to school that fall. She was more withdrawn, silent, and basically a shell of her former self. That was until Stefan Salvatore and his sexy brother Damon came to town. Stefan and Elena clicked quickly and started a relationship. She then realized that the Salvatore brothers were really vampires. With the help of a witch of a best friend and her drug addicted brother Elena slowly navigates her way through the insanity that has become her life. It’s only been one season but Elena has already been through so much and proven she can roll with the punches.

01.) Buffy Summers: For those of you who know me will see that our number one pick comes as no surprise…of course it is Buffy Summers. Yup, I’m like a huge BtVS fan so it was only natural that Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character would be my number one pick. Buffy is the chosen one, the girl born to fight against the vampires and demons and other things that go bump in the night. She’s supposed to be the only one but poor Buffy doesn’t get so lucky. She’s had to fight alongside two other slayers and later on trained a bunch of potentials. The show starts off with the 16 year old slayer new in town and trying to get adjusted to her new school. Luckily she manages to make some pretty awesome friends and gets a watcher who isn’t half bad. Oh, and she had a boyfriend who just happens to be a vampire. Buffy is one of those enduring characters who you get to watch grow from a teenage girl to a young woman with a strong head on her shoulders. She’s been killed twice, found her mother’s dead body, and learned her sister isn’t even real. This girl has had to deal with so much the normal person would have gone insane. And I respect her for that! She has been a personal hero of mine since I was 14.
Not only was the Buffy The Vampire Slayer show extremely popular and successful even to this day, so is the Season Eight comic book series based on the hit TV show!
