MINNESOTA FEMALE FILMMAKERS MAKE MAJOR DEBUT

The best vampire film (“Near Dark”), the best romance (“The Piano”) and the best thriller (“Ripley’s Game”): What do they have in common? They’re all the work of women. Lady directors can rule the world. They get cinema, the magic, the mystery of these flipbooks on speed. No matter what the menfolk say, Tinsel Town is becoming a matriarchal society.

Just to prove it right, SILENT-BUT-DEADLY PRODUCTIONS, a home-grown all female production company dedicated to women in film, is having its first premiere on SEPTEMBER 24TH at RIVERVIEW THEATER. Included in the event are the feature WHY AM I IN A BOX, Written and Directed by “13 Hours in a Warehouse” star Rachel Grubb, as well as the three shorts YOUNG EYES, A BROKEN FAMILY, and A YOUNG HEART, Directed by Brooke Lemke.

Above all, Brooke Lemke and Rachel Grubb, stars of “Cave Women on Mars” and the producers of SILENT-BUT-DEADLY PRODUCTIONS, want to do things their way. Every frame will be distinctly their own. No compromise. No masculine middle man. Nothing between their minds and the movies they want to make. WHY AM I IN A BOX concerns a lazy writer and her deranged muse. YOUNG EYES and A BROKEN FAMILY look at family dysfunction, and the dysfunction between young women and their self-images.

The duo’s first three films will debut on SEPTEMBER 24th at the RIVERVIEW THEATER, doors will open at 8:45pm, and screening begins at 9:30. There will be a Q&A with the Filmmakers and Company Owners until 11:30pm.
