February’s Horror DVDs

I’m switching things up a bit. Last time, I talked about the horror movies coming out next month. This time, the focus is on the horror movies fresh out on DVD. I also have to add that I haven’t seen any of these movies except for Zombieland, which as you recall, totally kicked major zombie ass! I mean, if you’re going to have to watch a movie about zombies with some dark humor thrown in, make it Zombieland! Zombieland comes out February 2nd, so that’s a great way to start the month off.

Another movie that comes out on the second of February that didn’t get much love or mention is The Triangle starring Melissa George. Melissa George starred in the Amityville Horror with Ryan Reynolds in case you forget… A horrible storm forces a group of friends off a yacht and onto a cruise ship. But people start dying soon after. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to think of this one. It might be good to rent. We’ll see…

A week after that, The Stepfather reboot comes out on DVD. Amber Heard is the eye candy and Dylan Walsh from Nip/Tuck plays the part of the homicidal father figure. And Penn Badgley of Gossip Girl plays the part of the son in this movie. He comes home from college to find his mom (Sela Ward) in love with a strange new man who turns out to be a killer. I saw the original movei and the sequels that followed. I don’t know if Dylan will be able to pull this off, but again we will soon find out.

Stepfather

The movie that made Eli Roth more well known, aka Cabin Fever, has a sequel. Rider Strong returns to reprise his role in this oooey gooey movie about a strange skin-eating virus that kills teenagers. Last time, it struck Rider and his friends in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. This time it’s Spring Fever, as in the prom. Yep, it seems that skin-eating virus starts to kill off teenagers at their Prom!

The week after that, Sorority Row, The Box, and Dead Snow all come out that same day! Sorority Row stars Briana Evigan as a college girl who shares a secret with her sisters. Someone shows up and starts killing them off one by one. The Box stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a couple who is presented with an interesting proposition. Press the button, get tons of money. But when that button is pushed, someone Will die. Can they live with that? Another one that will have to wait really. Dead Snow has a group of teens that are terrorized by zombie Nazis. I will have to see that last one for sure! No doubt about that one!

So those are the horror movies that will be coming out in February. Some sound good and others sound cheesy, but that’s ok. We will view and review as many of these as we can. So look for those reviews coming out over the next few months!
