 A Time For Love…and Horror

A Time For Love…and Horror

As the month of January draws to a close, I’m once again reminded that I didn’t get to see Daybreakers and Legion…yet. Yet is definitely the key word here. Let’s just say that it’s on my list to do in the next week or two. So now that those movies have been release and are still playing pretty much everywhere, it is just about time to move on to the movies that will be coming out in February, since February isn’t that far away now.

Stars of Wolfman

Stars of Wolfman

Just two days shy of Valentine’s Day, the first horror movie to mention is Wolfman. Wolfman is a remake of the Universal horror classic that originally starred Lon Chaney Jr. as the title character. Now, it’s a hopeful retelling of the story starring Benicio del Toro, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Emily Blunt. The trailer looks good (it’s on fearvid.net if you haven’t seen it yet!) and I happen to have a fondness for Sir Anthony Hopkins. And yes, I will say Sir every time. There’s a reason he was knighted by the Queen. The man did play Hannibal Lecter. Never forget that. Enough said on that movie now.

Shutter Island

Shutter Island

Moving on to a movie that comes out one week later is Shutter Island. Shutter Island is a horror movie based on Dennis Lehane’s novel, directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Michelle Williams. Leonardo’s character investigates the disappearance of a patient from a psychiatric hospital. The trailer looks good and it will be interesting to see if Martin and Leo can actually pull off a horror movie. Since we already know that Michelle can (reference H:20)

The Crazies

The Crazies

One week later, the remake of The Crazies comes out. Danielle Panabaker stars in this horror movie, originally directed by George Romero (all hail George!). If you can’t recall what Danielle Panabaker is from, she starred in Mr. Brooks and the Friday the 13th reboot. She is also set to star with Amber Heard in John Carpenter’s newest project The Ward. The fact that Romero helmed this movie originally is enough to get me out to see it when it’s released in the theaters. Also Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill, Pitch Black) and Christie Lynn Smith co-star. One last person I have to mention is Timothy Olyphant (crazy film student Mickey from Scream 2).

So here’s just a few movies that may or may not be worth your time and money, if you see them in just a few weeks. Let me know what was good or what sucked!
